백남준 탄생 90주년을 기념하며,

1988년 전 세계 인류에게 평화와 소통의 메시지를 보낸 백남준의 위성프로젝트 "Wrap Around the World"에 화답하고자,
2022년 한국의 예술가들이 시공간을 초월하는 평화와 안녕의 메시지를 다시 한번 쏘아 올립니다!

이날치, DJ 진욱, 사운드아티스트 정진화, 엘트라바이 박소희, 해파리 박민희가 함께하는 이번 "Wrap Around the World" 시리즈에서는 한국 최전선의 크리에이티브 미디어 콘텐츠를 만날 수 있습니다.

제 2편 ‘서울 소나타(Seoul Sonata)’는 1970년대 여러 대의 턴테이블로 오늘날의 디제잉 같은 퍼포먼스를 보여준 백남준의 작업에서 모티브를 삼았습니다.
1980년대에 그는 비디오아트가 계속해서 방영되는 TV채널을 구상하기도 했는데요.
그래서인지 "바이바이 키플링"(1986)과 "나비"(1986), "전자예술; 전자요가"(연도미상) 등의 작품과 기록물은 당대의 대중가요, 광고 이미지와 괴리감 없이 어우러집니다.

‘서울 소나타’는 음악 플레이리스트 콘텐츠로 DJ 진욱이 직접 디제잉한 음원과 백남준의 작품을 함께 감상할 수 있습니다.

항상 재미있지는 않다.

항상 재미없는 것도 아니다.

In celebration of the 90th anniversary of Nam June Paik’s birth,
and in memory of his 1988 television special ‘Wrap Around the World’—which delivered a message of peace and communication to all humanity—
the KF and Korean artists transcend time and space to once again deliver his message of harmony to the world!

The ‘Wrap Around the World’ YouTube series introduces some of Korea’s leading artists and entertainers, including LEENALCHI, DJ Jinwook, Jeong Jinhwa the sound artist, Sohee Park from Elltravaille, and HAEPAARY member Minhee Park.

The second episode, ‘Seoul Sonata,’ was inspired by the earlier work of Nam June Paik, which exhibited today's DJ-like performance with several turntables in the 1970s. In the 1980s, he even envisioned a TV channel where video art continued to air. This enabled some of his early works and archival records, such as ‘Bye Bye Kipling(1986),’ ‘Butterfly(1986),’ and ‘Electronic Yoga(1966–72, 1992)’ to harmoniously blend in with the pop music and commercials of the time.

‘Seoul Sonata’ is a musical playlist that allows you to enjoy the songs played by DJ Jinwook along with Nam June Paik’s artworks.

My experimental TV is
not always interesting
but
not always uninteresting
