백남준 탄생 90주년을 기념하며,

1988년 전 세계 인류에게 평화와 소통의 메시지를 보낸 백남준의 위성프로젝트 "Wrap Around the World"에 화답하고자,
2022년 한국의 예술가들이 시공간을 초월하는 평화와 안녕의 메시지를 다시 한번 쏘아 올립니다!

이날치, DJ진욱, 사운드아티스트 정진화, 엘트라바이 박소희, 해파리 박민희가 함께하는 이번 "Wrap Around the World" 시리즈에서는 한국 최전선의 크리에이티브 미디어 콘텐츠를 만날 수 있습니다.

제 5편 ‘동쪽에서 온 편지(Letters from the East)’에는 국가무형문화재 가곡 이수자이며 HAEPAARY로 활동 중인 박민희를 통해 백남준의 편지가 가곡으로 재탄생합니다.

백남준은 동료 예술가, 후원가, 비평가들과 편지를 주고받으며 자신의 비전을 설파하고 드로잉을 통해 메시지를 전달하고자 했습니다.

‘동쪽에서 온 편지’는 백남준의 선지자적인 글귀, 장난스러우면서도 그가 바라는 미래를 뚜렷이 그린 드로잉을 신비로운 자연 풍경 위에 입혔습니다.

시간과 공간의 제약을 뛰어넘어 평화와 화합의 서신을 전하며 ‘세계와 손잡고’ 시리즈를 마무리합니다.

In celebration of the 90th anniversary of Nam June Paik’s birth,
and in memory of his 1988 television special ‘Wrap Around the World’—which delivered a message of peace and communication to all humanity—
the KF and Korean artists transcend time and space to once again deliver his message of harmony to the world!

The ‘Wrap Around the World’ YouTube series introduces some of Korea’s leading artists and entertainers, including LEENALCHI, DJ Jinwook, Jeong Jinhwa the sound artist, Sohee Park from Elltravaille, and HAEPAARY member Minhee Park.

The finale of the series, “Letters from the East,” is a recreation of Nam June Paik’s letters by HAEPAARY member Minhee Park, who is also a certified trainee of the intangible cultural heritage musical performance called gagok (lyric song cycles accompanied by an orchestra).

With this set of letters, Nam June Paik intended to convey his message and vision through drawings that he exchanged with fellow artists, sponsors, and critics.

“Letters from the East” features these drawings—which present the future that Paik envisioned— along with his writings on the backdrop of ethereal natural landscapes.

Delivering a letter of peace and harmony beyond the constraints of time and space, we now bring the series to a close.
