백남준 탄생 90주년을 기념하며,
1988년 전 세계 인류에게 평화와 소통의 메시지를 보낸 백남준의 위성프로젝트 "Wrap Around the World"에 화답하고자, 2022년 한국의 예술가들이 시공간을 초월하는 평화와 안녕의 메시지를 다시 한번 쏘아 올립니다!

이날치, DJ진욱, 사운드아티스트 정진화, 엘트라바이 박소희, 해파리 박민희가 함께하는 이번 "Wrap Around The World" 시리즈에서는 한국 최전선의 크리에이티브 미디어 콘텐츠를 만날 수 있습니다.

제 1편 ‘세계와 손잡고(Wrap Around the World)’는 시리즈의 문을 여는 첫 번째 영상으로 앞서 설명한 백남준의 위성프로젝트와 동명의 콘텐츠입니다.
1988년 생방송된 백남준의 작품 속 인물들이 시공간을 초월한 통신으로 2022년 서울의 이날치와 교류합니다.

백남준의 "과달카날 레퀴엠"(1977)에 포함된 제2차 세계대전 기록 영상 클립들을 뒤따라 펼쳐지는 이날치의 "여보나리" 퍼포먼스는 동양과 서양, 클래식과 팝의 경계를 무화하며 인류의 화합과 평화를 노래합니다.

우리는 또다시 세기말에 서 있다.
훨씬 새로운 소프트웨어를 발견해 내고 있으며,
이때 발견하는 것은 새로운 사물이 아니라 새로운 생각이다.
우리는 또다시 이 많은 생각 사이에 새로운 관계를 발견할 뿐만 아니라,
이들 사이의 관계망을 구축할 것이다.

In celebration of the 90th anniversary of Nam June Paik’s birth,
and in memory of his 1988 television special ‘Wrap Around the World’—which delivered a message of peace and communication to all humanity— the KF and Korean artists transcend time and space to once again deliver his message of harmony to the world!

The ‘Wrap Around the World’ YouTube series introduces some of Korea’s leading artists and entertainers, including LEENALCHI, DJ Jinwook, Jeong Jinhwa the sound artist, Sohee Park from Elltravaille, and HAEPAARY member Minhee Park.

The premiere episode of the series, also titled ‘Wrap Around the World,’ shares the same name as Nam June Paik’s 1988 broadcast. In this episode, the characters he introduced in the original TV special, communicate with present day Seoul only to clash with LEENALCHI.

Following the World War II archival footage from Nam June Paik’s ‘Guadalcanal Requiem(1977),’ LEENALCHI performs ‘Please Don’t Go’, a fusion of classical Korean and modern pop music that aims to break the boundaries between Eastern and Western culture.

We are again the fin de siècle...
