작업 소개

57STUDIO의 〈Bye Bye Early Bird : AI Music Video〉(2022)는 영상 작품 〈바이 바이 얼리버드〉를 인공지능 기술을 통해 재구성한 뮤직비디오 프로젝트이다. 본 작업은 시대를 앞서간 예술가 백남준을 최초의 인공위성 ‘얼리버드(Early Bird)’에 비유하며, 그의 예술 세계를 과거에서 현재로 송신되는 하나의 신호로 상정하는 데서 출발한다.

AI 뮤직비디오는 이 신호를 감지하고 재조합하는 새로운 수신 장치로 작동한다. 인간의 기억과 기술, 음악과 이미지가 교차하는 지점에서, AI는 백남준이 남긴 파장을 시각적·청각적 리듬으로 번역하며, 원작의 개념을 또 다른 감각의 층위로 확장한다.

57STUDIO는 이 작업을 통해 AI를 단순한 생성 도구가 아닌, 예술적 유산을 다시 호출하고 해석하는 동시대적 매개로 다루며, 백남준을 향한 하나의 디지털 제의를 제안한다.

Bye Bye Early Bird: AI Music Video (2022) is an AI-based music video that reinterprets 57STUDIO’s original video work Bye Bye Early Bird. The project begins with the metaphor of Nam June Paik as the “Early Bird,” the name of the world’s first communications satellite, imagining his artistic legacy as signals transmitted from the past.

In this version, AI functions as a contemporary receiver—detecting, recomposing, and translating those signals into sound and moving images. Through algorithmically generated rhythms and visuals, the work extends the original concept into a new sensory register, where memory, technology, music, and machine vision intersect.

Rather than treating AI as a purely technical tool, 57STUDIO approaches it as a medium for re-engaging with artistic legacy. The project proposes a form of digital ritual, offering a renewed encounter with Paik’s enduring transmissions through the language of AI-driven music video.
