작업 소개
57STUDIO는 국제갤러리에서 열린 폴 맥카시의 개인전 《Cut Up and Silicone, Female Idol, WS》의 전시 도큐멘트 영상을 구성 및 제작하였습니다. 이번 전시는 조각 및 회화 연작을 중심으로, 작가의 독창적인 시각 언어와 비판적 메시지를 전시장 전반에 펼쳐낸 자리였습니다.
폴 맥카시는 신화, 동화, 대중문화 속 도상을 원초적이고도 불편한 조형 언어로 전복시켜, 사회의 무의식과 구조를 드러내는 작업을 전개해왔습니다. 57STUDIO는 전시의 시퀀스와 공간 구성, 그리고 작품의 물질성과 메시지가 조응하는 지점을 면밀히 포착해, 전시의 시각적 리듬이 효과적으로 전달될 수 있도록 영상 콘텐츠를 제작하였습니다.
57STUDIO produced the exhibition documentary video for Paul McCarthy’s solo exhibition Cut Up and Silicone, Female Idol, WS at Kukje Gallery. Centered on a series of sculptures and paintings, the exhibition presented McCarthy’s distinctive visual language and critical perspective throughout the gallery space.
Paul McCarthy has long subverted symbols drawn from myth, fairy tales, and popular culture through a raw and unsettling sculptural vocabulary, exposing the unconscious and systemic structures underlying society. 57STUDIO closely captured the exhibition’s spatial sequence and composition, focusing on the interplay between materiality and message. The resulting video was designed to convey the exhibition’s visual rhythm and immersive atmosphere with clarity and impact.
