작업 소개

57STUDIO는 국제갤러리의 주요 전시들을 영상으로 기록하며, 도록의 정제된 미학을 영상으로 구현하는 작업에 집중하고 있습니다. 2021년 박서보 작가의 개인전 도큐멘트 영상을 제작한 데 이어, 오는 6월 18일 재개관을 기념하며 최욱경 작가의 개인전 《Wook-kyung Choi》를 선보입니다.

이번 전시는 강렬한 색채와 대담한 필치로 국제적 추상회화를 이끈 최욱경 작가의 작품 세계를 조명하며, 1960년대부터 1975년경 제작된 흑백 잉크 드로잉과의 관계를 통해 그의 실험적 작업 전반을 탐구합니다. 57STUDIO는 전시 공간과 작품의 디테일을 차분하고 세밀하게 포착하여, 도록의 품격을 영상으로 담아내며 한국 현대미술의 깊이를 기록하고 있습니다.

57STUDIO has been documenting Kukje Gallery’s major exhibitions, focusing on translating the refined aesthetics of catalogues into video form. Following the production of the documentary video for Park Seo-Bo’s solo exhibition in 2021, 57STUDIO now presents a new project to celebrate the gallery’s reopening on June 18 with Wook-kyung Choi’s solo exhibition, Wook-kyung Choi.

This exhibition highlights the bold colors and dynamic strokes that defined Wook-kyung Choi’s contributions to international abstract art. It also explores the experimental nature of her work through its relationship with her black-and-white ink drawings created between the 1960s and around 1975. 57STUDIO has meticulously captured the exhibition space and the intricate details of Choi’s works, translating the elegance of catalogues into video while preserving and documenting the depth of Korean contemporary art.
