작업 소개

57STUDIO는 PLATFORM-L Contemporary Art Center의 개관 홍보영상을 기획 및 제작하였습니다.

이번 영상은 2016년 서울에 새롭게 문을 연 플랫폼-엘의 건축 공간을 소개하고, 개관 전시로 열린 배영환 개인전 《새들의 나라》와 양푸동 전시 《New Women = 천공지색》을 함께 담았습니다. 플랫폼-엘은 갤러리, 라이브 홀, 렉처룸 등 다양한 시설을 갖춘 복합문화예술공간으로, 동시대 예술가들의 창의적 시도와 실험을 지원하고 관객들에게 폭넓은 예술 체험을 제공하기 위해 설립되었습니다.

57STUDIO는 공간의 특성과 개관 전시의 취지를 조화롭게 담아내어, 플랫폼-엘이 지향하는 열린 교류와 탐구의 장으로서의 비전을 영상으로 전달하고자 하였습니다.

57STUDIO planned and produced the opening promotional video for PLATFORM-L Contemporary Art Center.

The video introduces the architectural space of PLATFORM-L, a new cultural complex that opened in Seoul in 2016, and features highlights from its inaugural exhibitions: Nation of Birds by Bae Young-whan and New Women = Heavenly Aesthetic by Yang Fudong.
PLATFORM-L is a multidisciplinary cultural art space equipped with galleries, a live hall, and lecture rooms, established to support the creative experiments of contemporary artists and to offer audiences diverse artistic experiences.

57STUDIO aimed to harmoniously capture both the unique character of the space and the spirit of the inaugural exhibitions, conveying PLATFORM-L’s vision as an open arena for artistic exchange and exploration through the medium of film.

플랫폼엘의 개관 기념전으로는 한국의 배영환 작가의 ‘새들의 나라’라는 전시가 하나 있고요. 그리고 중국 작가 양푸동의 ‘천공지색’ 두 개의 개인전이 동시에 개최됩니다

To mark the opening of PLATFORM-L Bae Young-whan’s ‘Pagus Avium’ and a Chinese artist Yang Fudong’s ‘The Coloured Sky: New Women II’ are organized at the same time.

배영환

‘새들의 나라’라는 타이틀로 전시를 하게 되었는데요. 현실을 의미하는 오브제들, 입체물들 그리고 사운드 설치가 있고 위에는 추상동사 시리즈들이 영상으로 설치되어서 상영될 것입니다. 추상동 사라는 것은 추상명사들이 가지고 있는 가치들 그게 사실 모든 행위, 동작 그런데에서 나오는 것이거든요.

의지 혹은 계속 진행하고 있음, 이런 것들이 가치를 부여 받아야 하는 것인데 오히려 관념만 사회적으로 가치를 부여 받고 있다는 생각 때문에 눈도 가려지고 수많은 뉴스 속에서 박제화된 새가 있고 그 새의 무의식처럼알려고 하는 동작들 그리고 그 새를 공격하는 듯한 폭력적인 북소리들이 믹싱이 되어가지고 새의 본능, 혹은 행위의 의지들이 억압되어 있는 모습들을 표현한 전시인 것 같습니다.

The exhibition is entitled as ‘Pagus Avium’. There are objects which imply the reality and sound installations. And the series of Abstract Verbs will be screened on the top floor. The term, Abstract Verbs, is initiated from values of abstract nouns which comes from all the attitudes, movement, etc.

The willingness or consistency should be valued. But rather as we are captured by the fact that only the notions are socially appreciated. Flooded by the plethora of news and blinded. A taxidermy bird is located and her unconscious movement of attempting to fly. And there are violent drum sounds that might attack the bird. In the exhibition those elements are inter-mixed to represent the suppressed instinct of the bird or willingness of the people.

플랫폼 엘은 젊은 작가들에게 보다 많은 기회를 제공해주는 그런 공간이 되고자 합니다. 디자이너가 되었건, 또는 건축가가되었건 그야말로 우리가 알고 있는 모든 현대미술의 다양한 분야에 종사하는 작가뿐만 아니라 큐레이터, 평론가들 이런 모든 사람들이 자신들의 생각을 좀 더 공유하고 또는 확인받고 서로의 가치나 생각을 함께 평가해주는 담론의 장소가 되기를 지향합니다

PLATFORM-L seeks to become a space that gives young artists more opportunities. whether they are designers or architects for anyone who works in the diverse areas of modern art that we know of in other words. It seeks to become a place of discours ewhere all these people, including curators and critics as well as artists can share further and seek confirmation of their ideas and evaluate the values and opinions of others.
